Man nabbed for Hanalei break-in

LIHU‘E — Officers arrested a Hanalei man for breaking into a residence on Weke Road Wednesday, a county news release states.

George Thomas Grant, age 49, was arrested for unauthorized entry into a dwelling and is being held at Police Cellblock in lieu of $1,000 bail.

According to police, Grant entered a residence on Weke Road but fled on his bicycle after being discovered by the home’s caretaker. With the help of witnesses and the neighboring community, police were able to locate the suspect at a nearby beach access trail, the release states.

Police apprehended Grant near the Hanalei Poi Factory on Kuhio Highway following a brief foot pursuit. No items were reported missing.
