Registration for teams interested in participating in a benefit softball tournament at the Waimea field are being accepted.
The softball tournament will benefit the Waimea Project Grad program which enables graduating high school seniors to enjoy their graduation in a drug-free, alcohol-free and smoke-free environment.
Tournament fee for teams is $200 and applications are available by calling Junior Lazaro at 212-4017.
The tournament will be played April 15-17.
Additionally, the volunteers of Waimea Project Grad will host a one-day community swap meet on April 16 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at a location mauka of the softball fields.
Vendors interested in participating in the swap meet can call Rodney Delanoa at 635-7737 for reservations.
There is a $30 refundable deposit if guidelines are complied with and a $30 vendor participation fee.
The mission of Waimea Project Grad is to serve as a community committed to the safety, survival and success of its high school seniors.
Event organizers are asking people to keep this in mind. Organizers and students will be posting signs and enforcing a policy restricting alcoholic beverages, tobacco, or drugs on the Waimea field during this event.
