Pono Players gets boost from grant

NAWILWILI  — A digital projector will give a strong boost to the technical arm of the Hawai‘i Children’s Theatre message theatre program, Pono Players.

That projector will be online when the curtains rise on “Godspell,” a Pono Players’ production directed by Ed Eaton.

Debra Blachowiak of the Hawai‘i Children’s Theatre said the projector will be utilized for some of the technical aspects of the show.

A grant from the Young Brothers Community Advisory Board will enable HCT to acquire the asset which will boost the technical arm of Pono Players.

“Godspell” opens March 24 and will run for three weekends, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 7 p.m. at the Puhi Theatrical Warehouse.

“This promises to be one of their best shows,” Blachowiak said in an e-mail. “The Pono Players will also be writing original material around the subject of bullying and performing this production near the end of the school year.”
