County Department of Water officials on Wednesday announced the start of two pipeline replacement projects, one in Lihu‘e and the other in Wailua. Completion is expected at the end of this year.
BCP Construction of Hawai‘i, general contractor for the Lihu‘e project, will be replacing approximately 6,870 linear feet of waterline as well as the accessories including: valves; fire hydrants; service laterals; and connections along portions of Eiwa, Umi, Akahi, Elua and Hardy streets, and Alohi, Uiki and Lalei place, a county news release states.
For the Wailua project, Koga Engineering and Construction will be replacing approximately 2,250 linear feet of waterline and accessories along ‘Ohana, Anolani, and Wailua roads and portions of Kuamo‘o Road and Lehia Lane.
Motorists in these areas are asked to drive with caution.
The pipeline replacement projects are part of Water Plan 2020, a comprehensive, long range planning effort, to ensure that safe, affordable and sufficient drinking water is provided to Kaua’i residents over the next two decades.
