Local boy and Sushi Bushido owner Victor Heresa has created a place where locals and visitors can enjoy some top local music, fantastic sushi and a bar selection found nowhere else on Kaua‘i.
One of Bushido’s signature drinks is the “Michiko Martini,” a dessert-like drink that will give you just the right caffeine boost for an after-dinner dance party.
Chris Sadaoka, at only 21 years old, is one of the most promising sushi chefs on Kaua‘i, according to Victor.
Chris has been working at Bushido for four years. He started working there when he was still in high school and Bushido was still in Nawiliwili.
Victor said the most embarrassing thing about Chris is that he is still single. The young Kaua‘i born-and-raised sushi chef just laughed. “It’s complicated.”
Standing tall behind the sushi bar, the Kaua‘i High School graduate already has an associates degree from Kaua‘i Community College. He said that in about five or six years he plans to open his own restaurant.
He said that on his days off he likes to go boogie-boarding and sand-sliding, whatever he meant by that.
Bushido is located in the heart of Old Kapa‘a Town, in the Dragon Building across from ABC.
Bushido is open for dinner seven days a week, from 5-9 p.m. Lunch is served Tuesday to Friday, from 12-3 p.m. On Sunday, Bushido offers a sushi buffet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., a great opportunity to have a taste of Victor’s creations at a very low price.
On Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, Victor will be offering some surprise specials. Parties of six or more are encouraged to call 822-0664 for reservations.
