Lillian Akiko Lumacad of Koloa died Dec. 26, 2010, at her home at age 86. Born Sept. 21, 1924, in Hawai‘i, she retired as a Teachers Aid with K.E.O.
She is survived by son Claude (Karen) Lumacad; daughter Donna (Robert) Yamamoto; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 9 to 9:45 a.m. with memorial services celebrated at 10 a.m. Inurnment to follow at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary assisted the family with services.
Melodye Dabney
Melodye Lou Friend Dabney of Eugene, Ore., died Dec. 21, 2010, at Sacred Heart Medical Center at age 67. Born in Decatur, Ill., she was owner and manager of Transmission Specialists in Eugene.
She received two master’s degrees from the University of Oregon, was an outstanding flutist, and in her younger days was in many marching bands. She also received the highest rank and decoration of The Girl Scouts, as a teenager, which she was always proud of.
She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Taylor Holden of Arizona; and her step-father, George Henry Schulze of Kilauea.
She is survived by her husband, Karl Dabney of Eugene, Ore.; mother, Donna Schulze of Kilauea; sons, Lt. Col. Michael Doyle, U.S. Marine Corp, of California, Shawn (Laura) Doyle of Arizona, Shane (Noella) Kubiak-Dabney of Florida, Kerry (Mary) Kubiak of Eugene, Ore.; brothers, Happy (Lydia) Holden of Taipei, Dr. Jolly (Linda) Holden of Georgia, Joey Swanson of Honolulu; sisters, Gay (Glen) Holden-Petrini of Florida, Honey (“BC”) Charles of Hanama‘ulu; step-sister, Cathy Casas of Texas; favorite cousin, James Holden of Wisconsin; five grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, at Poole Larsen Funeral Home, Eugene, Ore.
Michael McInerney
Michael S. McInerney of west Kaua‘i died Dec. 15, 2010, at The Queen’s Medical Center at age 61. Born in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 30, 1949, his hope was that his illness would result in treatment progress for others who suffered the same illness. He was in the U.S. Navy and served on board the U.S.S. Fulton.
He is survived by his mother, Loretta McInerney, and sister, Claire (Tom) Mack of Florida.
Services with military honors will be held at the Lihu‘e Lutheran Church, Jan. 12, at 9:30 a.m.
