Robert Nuesca
Robert Mokulani Nuesca of Anahola died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Dec. 14, 2010, at age 42. Born on O‘ahu on Jan. 22, 1968, he was an entertainer and worked in construction for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Helene Nuesca and father-in-law, Florencio Espinosa.
He is survived by his wife, Mercedes Nuesca, four children, Rylan, Ricah, Rydge and Kelieann all of Anahola; sisters, Danette (Mark) Morita, Eleanor (Tim) Nuesca-Rita of Kapahi; mother-in-law, Madeline Espinosa of Kapa‘a; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, Dec. 23, at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall with visitation from 8 a.m. and services at 10 a.m.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Nuesca family with arrangements.
Toraichi Kanda
Toraichi Kanda of ‘Ele‘ele died Dec. 9, 2010 at home at age 90. Born in Makaweli on Feb. 3, 1920, he was a mill mechanic with Olokele Sugar Company.
He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Kanda; son, Edward (Marian) of Kirkland, Wash.; daughters, Cathy (George) Mosier of Honolulu and Estelle (Raymond) Furuike of Kalaheo; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Yasuichi of California; sisters, Tokiko Silva of Lawa‘i and Miyo Tengan of Honolulu.
Services were private. Family request no koden.

Abraham Kailikini Sr.
Abraham Kailikini Sr. died Dec. 19, 2010, at age 90. He was born on Oct. 13, 1920, in Hanalei.
He was preceded in death by spouse Ermine Leinani Taniguchi Kailikini.
He is survived by his children Abraham Kailikini Jr, Pamela (Ernest) Dow, Ruth (Dwayne) Naumu, and Cythnia Blair; eight grandchildren, Shelcie (Kevin) Fune, Kevin Kailikini, Travis (Jessica Hoe) Kailkini, Chrystie (Juan) Vasquez, Tiffany Naumu, Trisha Naumu, Garrett Naumu and Krystal Naumu; eight great-grandchildren, Justin and Jordyn Fune, Bronson, Kaulawena and Haaheo Kailikini, Brenden, Aleajah and Taytra Naumu; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Services at Garden Island Mortuary in Lawa‘i on Monday, Dec. 27. Visitation at 3 p.m. Services to begin at 4 p.m. Private burial services on a later date at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery.
Garden Island Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
Asayo Shimada
Asayo Shimada of Hanapepe died Dec. 19, 2010 at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 82. Born on May 14, 1928, in Makaweli, she was a secretary with Kaua‘i Electric.
She is survived by husband Calvin H. Shimada; son Kelly O. Shimada (Connie) of Honolulu; grandchildren Matthew and Maleah Shimada; sister Takeyo Saito of Honolulu; aunts, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 27, at the First United Church of Christ in Hanapepe.
Family request no monetary gifts. If gifts are given, it will be donated to the charity of their choice.

Georgina Fitzsimmons
Georgina Fitzsimmons of San Francisco and Kilauea died Dec. 17, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 91. Born Dec. 18, 1918, in San Francisco, Calif., she was a loving mother.
She is survived by daughter Sally A. Spencer of Kilauea; granddaughter Lana A. Papke and grandson Kapoka K.D. Papke; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Marie Mayer of Bremerton, Wash..; nieces and nephews.
Services were private.

Seisuki ‘Richard’ Arakaki
Seisuki ‘Richard’ Arakaki of Koloa died Dec. 16, 2010, at home at age 80. Born on April 18, 1930, in Hanama‘ulu, he was a journeyman mechanic with Lihu‘e Plantation and was known as an avid gardener.
He was preceded in death by mother Matsuyo Arakaki; brothers Kamado, Yeaso, Yieshin, Yeibin and David Arakaki; and sisters Kay Levi and Ruth Shimomaya.
He is survived by wife Emiko; son Richard (Melva) Arakaki of Koloa; daughters Cindy C. (Brandon) Uehara of Mililani and Tracy C. (Joey) Bukoski of Lawa‘i; 10 grandchildren, Brandon K. K. (Ashley) Arakaki, Bryson K. Arakaki, Cullen K. Arakaki, Tyrus S. (Kristi) Acoba, Ariane A. (Caleb) Silva, Troy S. Acoba, Taylen S. Acoba, Brody K. Uehara, Caitlyn N. Bukoski and Kierstyn N. Bukoski; three great-grandchildren Haley K. Arakaki, Patricia M.R. Acoba and Kalen C. Acoba; brothers Terry (Nancy) Arakaki of Kailua and Thomas (Sally) Arakaki of Koloa; sister Nancy (Ikito) Muraoka of Koloa; sister-in-law Betty Arakaki of Kane‘ohe; and brother-in-law Harold Levi of Honolulu.
Friends may visit with the family from 3 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service at 4 p.m. Casual attire. No flowers.

John M. Vidinha Jr. of Lawa‘i died Dec. 19, 2010, at age 73. He was born on Sept. 3, 1937, in ‘Ele‘ele and was the proprietor of John Vidinha Jr. Septic Systems.
He is survived by wife Christina Eleanor Vidinha; daughters Christina (Roy) Taylor, Veronica (Late Dale) Botelho; sons Matthew (Michelle) Vidinha, Dominic (Winifred) Vidinha, Kurt ‘Jamie’ Vidinha; sister Rose Daley; brothers Wayne (Phyllis) Vidinha, Harold (Wendy) Vidinha, Leslie ‘Chala’ Vidinha; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
A prayer service to be held on Dec. 27, 2010, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary chapel in Koloa with visitation at 11 a.m. and service at 1 p.m. Burial to follow at Lawa‘i Cemtery.
