LIHU‘E — At Atherton Field, the HPU men’s soccer team defeated Chaminade, 8-0, states a release from the HPU athletic department.
Kimo Komomua, Mike Moloney, and Richard Guffens each scored a pair of goals to lead the Sea Warriors to their most lopsided win over the Swords.
The Sea Warriors improved to 9-6 overall and 8-3 in the PacWest while Chaminade dropped to 1-10-1 overall and 0-9-1 in conference.
HPU scored four goals in each half beginning with Komomua’s game-opening score in the 11th minute. In the 18th minute, Chance Bukoski increased the lead to 2-0 when he dribbled through the Chaminade defense and scored far post past Sword keeper Dan Dartt. Dartt would record five saves for CUH.
The goal was Bukoski’s 11th of the season, which keeps him in second place in the PacWest.
Moloney’s goals were the first and second of his career and occurred just seconds apart in the first half.
Kay Flache posted one save for HPU in earning the shutout.
HPU now travels to Hilo, HI to take on the UH-Hilo Vulcans this Saturday. Start time is set for 12:30 p.m.
