LIHU‘E — The University of Hawai‘i Rainbow Wahine cross country took home both the team and individual titles at the UH Big Wave Invitational at the Kane‘ohe Klipper golf course, Saturday.
 Three of the top five finishers were from UH, led by senior Ashley Aitken.
Aitken, who finished runner-up last year, won the race with a time of 14:57.66, followed by Hawai‘i Pacific’s Frida Aspnaes (15:00.73).
UH’s Kevyn Murphy took third with a time of 15:33.78, while Alison Williams took fifth at 15:44.31.
 Hawai‘i led the team standings with 34 points, moving past BYU-Hawai‘i (40). Hawai‘i Pacific finished third with 56 points, followed by Chaminade (111).
 BYU-Hawai‘i easily won the men’s race with 22 points, finishing comfortably ahead of second-place HPU (65). UH-Hilo (70) and Chaminade (74) rounded out the men’s teams. BYU-Hawai‘i’s Matthew Gulden won the 5k race with a time of 16:10.95.
Next up for the Rainbow Wahine is the Chaminade Invitational on Sept. 25 in Waipahu, O`ahu.
Wahine pick up 2nd sweep over BYU
LIHU‘E — For the second straight night, the Rainbow Wahine needed just three sets to notch the home win over BYU, Saturday at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Hawai‘i took the 3-0 match by scores of 25-23, 25-13, 25-16.
In Friday night’s match, UH was a 3-0 winner by a count of 25-23, 25-11, 25-10.
Saturday, Brittany Hewitt led her team in both kills and blocks with 13 and four, respectively. She also had a .522 hitting percentage.
Kanani Danielson compiled 11 kills on a .273 hitting percentage, along with nine digs.
Hawai‘i again plays host in its next two contests, first taking on Utah State on Thursday, then Nevada on Friday.
