HONOLULU — The University of Hawai‘i women’s soccer team returns home for the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Soccer Classic, Sept. 17-19, at the Waipi‘o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
Joining UH in the round-robin tournament are Pepperdine of the West Coast Conference and Washington State of the Pac-10.
UH (2-5), coming off a 10-day layoff, will open the tournament on Friday when it takes on Washington State at 7 p.m.
Pepperdine will meet Washington State at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
UH and Pepperdine will conclude the tournament on Sunday at 5 p.m. in a match that will be televised live on KFVE.
Hawai‘i looks to get back on the winning track after going 1-2 in its first road trip of the year. The trip started well with a 3-2 win over San Francisco. However, the Rainbow Wahine were trounced in their next two matches against No. 21 California (L, 8-1) and Saint Mary’s College (L, 3-0).
Washington State and Pepperdine enter the tournament going in different directions. The Waves are 4-2-1 and coming off of a win against Dartmouth, while the Cougars, who were nationally ranked in the preseason, have started the season 2-6.
