Hats off to Parker Anderson, Lauren Yama and Mary Bea Porter-King on a great Mixed Team Championship for the Hawai‘i State Junior Golf Association.
Mahalo to Jimmy Tokioka for stopping by with a bottle of water, and mahalo, too, to Kenneth Kimura who stopped with an offer of a cart. But the shade at No. 8 at the Kaua‘i Lagoons Golf Club was too much to relinquish since that vantage point offered all kinds of views as the teams and their support teams passed through.
Kerry Oda had the best position, though, but he didn’t have his cameras.
OK, we do it again this weekend at the Puakea Golf Course when the HSJGA hosts the Junior Tour Series. Anyone not tried the Puakea Chips, yet?
Kevin Matsunaga had one of his Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School video crews doing a piece on the Newell’s shearwaters at Saturday night’s game, and the kids (Fred Sasan was watching equipment for them) found out it’s not as easy as it’s made out to be.
Ms. Joyce Evens had her Menehune video crew doing the game, and JK’s announcers Arthur ‘Atta’ Brun and Mel Rapozo were upstairs for the media event.
