The Hot Latin Nights at Kuhio Lounge, in Wailua’s Aston Aloha Beach Resort may give everyone a darn good workout on the dance floor. The refreshing “Palms Lemonade” might just be the perfect drink for the uninhibited dancers.
Bartender David Takiguchi can mix a pretty good concoction, but when it comes down to salsa dancing, he prefers to watch.
David may not be a good dancer, but is a bona-fide hunter. He even got his fiancee into hunting, and together they own six hunting dogs.
The biggest pig David ever caught was a whooping 160 pounds. The hunting dogs track down wild boars, and grab it by the ears. The hunter then comes in and stabs the boar in the heart.
It’s a good thing that David is human, because had he been born as a boar he would’ve been an easy grab for the hunting dogs. As a child he would get teased by his family and friends because of his wide ears, which earned him the nickname Dumbo.
Every first Saturday of each month, Kuhio Lounge offers free salsa lessons from 8:30 to 9 p.m., followed by a night of hot Latin fun on the dance floor lasting until 1 a.m.
