KALAHEO — Jasabelle Cudanes fired off the only three-ball of the game en route to nailing a game-high 11 points, Monday night.
Cudanes of Westside Basketball led the blueshirts to a 29-13 showing over Lihu‘e during the Kaua‘i Youth Basketball Association 12 and Under Girls summer league games at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Earlier in the night, the Kaua‘i Ballers forfeited their matchup against the Lihu‘e Kamikaze when it could not field enough players for a team. That forfeit earned the Kamikaze a 2-0 win.
In the true spirit of sportsmanship, Kaua‘i Ballers “borrowed” a Kamikaze for an unofficial game, Shaianne Abigania and Keisha-Lee Aki going on to each net game-high 11 points for the Ballers. Violet Martin finished with four points in the exhibition match.
Kalia Shimabukuro was held to just four points for the Kamikaze. Chyna Hanano and Ashley Lucas chipped in pairs for the showing.
Brandee Burton served to catalyze Westside, working the point and directing plays to Cudanes and Tiana Apilado, who finished the night with 10 points.
Westside Basketball capitalized on Lihu‘e’s five-player showing and swooped in for a number of steals.
Following the leaders, Burton chalked up her own six points along with the court experience. Athena Abadilla and Shania Kaahepu‘u finished with a digit each.
Marissa Martinez paced the Lihu‘e effort with six points, followed by Malyssa Manera adding three points. Mie Miller and Monique Tomacder each paired.
The Boys Under 12 take the floor for three games, Thursday starting at 6 p.m. when the Kaua‘i Ballers tangle with Westside Basketball. Team Central goes up against Papalina starting at 7 p.m. and Lihu‘e matches up with Hanakila starting at 8 p.m.
