LIHU‘E — During the month of June, the county Department of Water will be mailing out water-quality reports for calendar 2009, describing the quality of drinking water and where it comes from, states a county press release.
Reports have been prepared for each of DOW’s nine water systems on the island.
The water-quality reports contain basic information on the source of water for the nine DOW systems, specific to residence and business customers’ locations, levels of contaminants in the water and compliance with drinking-water rules, as well as other pertinent information, the release states.
Kaua‘i’s water meets all federal Environmental Protection Agency guidelines for safe drinking water and any contaminants found were well below the highest levels allowed by the EPA, states the release.
The federal Safe Drinking Water Act requires water utilities to provide water-quality information to customers every year.
