LIHU‘E — The state Disability and Communication Access Board (DCAB) recently introduced two new videos on emergency preparedness and individuals with disabilities, a press release states.
The purpose of these videos is to provide clear and concise explanations about how individuals with disabilities and their families can prepare emergency kits or shelter in place if an emergency or disaster occurs.
The public can view the videos, “Ho‘omakaukau” (Get Ready) and “Sheltering in Place,” via the DCAB website, www.hawaii.gov/health/dcab on YouTube.
There is a link on the left navigational bar titled “Emergency Preparedness.” Click on that link and scroll down the page and the first two links under “Hawai‘i Resources” to view the videos.
The DCAB has a limited supply of both videos on DVD for agencies that serve people with disabilities and provide emergency-preparedness training for clients.
To obtain a free copy or for more information, contact Debbie Jackson at DCAB toll-free at 274-3141, then dialing 6-8121# (V/TTY) after the recorded message, or e-mail debbra.jackson@doh.hawaii.gov.
