LIHU‘E — Those looking for a last-minute tax deduction can find one locally with, depending on tax circumstances, up to 50 percent of a donation to a nonprofit corporation tax-deductible, one advocate says.
A local nonprofit of choice could be Permakuleana, dedicated to sustainability for Kaua‘i, according to a press release.
The group manages a 35-acre parcel of land as a permaculture education center, and has ambitious plans to offer classes on caring for land, producing organic fruits and vegetables at home for home use or sale, and growing tea.
The nonprofit’s goal is teaching Kaua‘i’s people to be sustainable.
The Web site www.incfworld.org has more information on how to make tax-deductible donations to favored nonprofit organizations in ways to potentially help reduce tax liabilities.
