Heads were rolling at the Alice in Wonderland Masquerade Concert, but luckily they remained attached to their bodies. They were only rolling to check out the fantastic costumes at the fanciful affair.
The mega-fun event on April’s Fool Day at the Hilton Kaua‘i Beach Resort closed the 2010 E Kanikapila Kakou season. We checked it out and saw dozens of people dressed up as characters from Lewis Carroll’s most famous book.
Already in its 27th edition, the popular 12-week program, E Kanikapila Kakou, brings Hawaiian music and culture to the people. This year’s theme was “The Stories Behind the Songs,” and the success was enormous.
Hawaiian superstar Makana highlighted the ball with a long and beautiful concert.
“We are not really here at the Kaua‘i Beach Resort, we are inside the brain of Carol Yotsuda,” said Makana at one point during his concert, pulling some serious laughs. The musician came impeccably dressed as the Mad Hatter, completely in tune with his mad performance.
Yotsuda has an unmatched talent of bringing people together, always having the best fun while at it. She has been organizing the EKK since year one, and each year it gets better.
