Stacie Serquina (ask her about shrimp tacos) is enjoying her spring break to da max — helping out at the Mayor’s Invitational Track Meet, Friday night, and then taking up one of the scorer’s positions at the county’s 11 and Under boys basketball game, Monday night.
Karen Matsumoto said there are about 70 kids at the Agena basketball clinic which opened Monday at the Kilauea Neighborhood Center in the rain.
Jullynn Ramos said she rode The Kaua‘i Bus to get there (it was late) and Brandon Palacio said he’s at the clinic because they have a lot of neat things given away.
And the best part is the lunch prepared by Steven Matsumoto (chili and hot dogs, Monday, and stew on Tuesday). The kids get a lunch out of the deal and some sore bodies (Jullynn was hobbling, and Kiara Palacio is waiting for Thursday night game so she can try out what she learned).
Shawn Doo, the boys volleyball coach for Maryknoll High School, is also in town with his team. They were scrimmaging Kaua‘i, Monday night, and Shawn said they play Kapa‘a, Tuesday, as part of their pre-season training (they’re even camping at the Raiderdome).
Finally, hats off to Penny Young and her Census Committee on the successful launch of the Kaua‘i road tour; it’s at the Kapa‘a Sunshine Market, today.
