Richard ‘Dickie’ Lutao was honored with a flag and certificate on January 8 for service to his nation during the Vietnam War. His nephew, Kareem Fuertes, who recently returned from a deployment, honored his uncle by having an American flag carried in the cockpit of an F-16 flown over Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Lutao served two tours with the United States Army in Vietnam between 1968 and 1970. His dedicated service to his country set an example for future generations within his family to follow. His support and advice proved to be invaluable to family members preparing to deploy to Iraq and Afghanistan. Lutao holds the certificate. To his right wife, Leslie, holds the flag that flew through the skies over Iraq; daughters Jessica and Salina. Front row: Don, Mother Ming and Father Domingo Sr.
