The singers sing for free and because of their love for music.
That was rewarded Thursday when the Kaua‘i Chorale Choir was presented with a grant from the Young Brothers Community Advisory Board which will enable to the volunteer group to continue its tradition of offering music to the community.
Lois Ricciardi, music director for the Chorale, Wes Cronk, president, and Gale Lee, vice president for the Chorale, accepted the contribution which was heralded by a Young Brothers customer approving of the gesture with shakas during the presentation at the YB Nawiliwili Port offices.
“The generous gift to see Kaua‘i Chorale Choir continue its splendid performances each year is received with much gratitude,” states a release from the Chorale.
The Kaua‘i Chorale Choir has been in existence since 1963 and continues to offer concerts, most notable in the spring and during the holidays.
There is an average of 80 to 100 dedicated singers who voluntarily lend their voices in practices which are held weekly to be able to present the island with concerts for its people.
The Kaua‘i Chorale Choir sings out at the annual Lights on Rice parade, the Kaua‘i Museum and the veterans’ Christmas luncheons.
The Young Brothers Community Advisory Board earlier presented the Lights on Rice parade committee with a gift of support for the annual parade which attracted thousands of people to Lihu‘e in a holiday extravaganza.
Young Brothers has been a supporter of this community event for more than 10 years.
