LIHU‘E — A 25-year-old Kapa‘a man who was on the Kaua‘i Police Department’s recent Most Wanted list was apprehended Saturday night, a county news release states.
Acting on a Crime Stopper’s tip, police initially attempted to arrest Lii Kaimana Cook at around 9:15 p.m. near the laundromat at the Rice Shopping Center, but he fled on foot.
Shortly afterward, police stopped the vehicle in which Cook was a passenger at the intersection of Puaole and Hoolako streets and officers surrounded the vehicle.
Cook was then apprehended and arrested without further incident.
He is being held in Police Cellblock on a grand jury warrant
and bench warrant for contempt of court in lieu of $26,000 bail.
Cook is suspected of being a key player in a large number of burglaries and thefts throughout the island.
Police have also arrested his alleged co-conspirators.
Chelsie Malie Banasihan, 21, of Waimea, and Brad Kubisch, 24, with a last known address in Koloa, recently pleaded not
guilty to first-degree burglary and second-degree theft charges and have requested jury trials in state court.
