A generous reader and friend of the Zonta Club of Kaua‘i read one of the Zonta/Garden Island Christmas Fund stories in The Garden Island newspaper and learned that a wheelchair was needed. It touched her heart.
She had a new wheelchair in the garage that was bought for her mom. It had never been used. Another family member had also bought a wheelchair for Mom and she didn’t need two. So there is sat, brand new, still in the box. She called Zonta and a few days later the wheelchair was delivered to the Kaua‘i Adult Day Health Center in Lihu‘e.
Joe was using his walker to make it to a seat in the hall where the presentation was being made. We asked him to come up front, and much to his surprise, the next thing he knew, he was sitting in a brand new wheelchair. The chair will be put to very good use.
