LIHU‘E — Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative announced that the Local 1260 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, representing 97 KIUC employees, ratified a new contract with the co-op Tuesday.
Their contract, which initially expired at midnight Friday, had been extended in light of the ongoing negotiations. The union and KIUC had reached a tentative agreement Sunday evening.
Contract details were not provided in the KIUC news release Tuesday evening.
KIUC spokeswoman Anne Barnes said Sunday that more information on the deal will be forthcoming after the ratification.
