On the occasion of the KAGRA’s 10th anniversary, a release from KAGRA said that Murayama earned the All-Around Cowgirl honor when the organization was formed, and repeated on its 10th anniversary.
Britni Ludington-Braun was announced as the Reserve All-Around Cowgirl for the 2009 season and received a Reserve All-Around Cowgirl buckle.
During the banquet, all KAGRA members received a special 10th anniversary rhinestone KAGRA shirt.
In addition to the awards, cowgirls were presented awards for the top three places of events held throughout the year.
Murayama, the All-Around Cowgirl, was tops in the 2nd D Pole Bending with 39 points. She also finished second in the Team Roping-Header with 64 points and third in 1st D Barrel Racing, just one point shy of second place finisher Kelli Carveiro.
Murayama also finished third in Breakaway Roping with 33 points — three points below second-place finisher Rhonda Kaui (36 points) — and Steer Undecorating (38 points).
Ludington-Braun, in her Reserve All-Around Honor, was first in 1st D Barrel (47 points), Goat Tying (53 points) and 1st D Pole Bending (47 points).
Competition during the year was close and Ludington-Braun finished the year just three points ahead of Kim Medeiros (50 points) in Goat Tying and just one point ahead of Wendy Tannery (46 points) in the 1st D Pole Bending.
Medeiros, settling for second in the Goat Tying event, finished tops in the Steer Undecorating with 54 points. and second in the 2nd D Pole Bending (30 points).
Rhonda Kaui, capturing top honors in the Team Roping – Header with 76 points, also pulled in two second-place finishes, one in Breakaway Roping where she finished just two points shy of top finisher Cheree Rapozo, and second in the Steer Undecorating with 46 points.
Cheree Rapozo, in addition to her top finish in Breakaway Roping, ended two points better than Shan Mundon (25 points) for second place in the 2nd D Barrel Racing and third place in the Team Roping – Heeler (48 points).
Tierra Rapozo topped the 2nd D Barrel Racing with 37 points. She added two third-place finishes, one in the 2nd D Pole Bending (24 points) and the other in the 3rd D Pole Bending (27 points).
Competition in the 3rd D Barrel was close with no more than two points separating each of the winners. Sheri Carveiro topped the event with 37 points followed by Robin Medeiros at 35 points, just one point better than Debbie Bail (34 points).
Shantel Wong topped the Team Roping – Heeler with 69 points over Joyce Miranda (60 points) and Cheree Rapozo (48 points).
Taylor Ludington finished the year with two third places, one in the Team Roping-Header (29 points) and the other in the 1st D Pole Bending (25 points).
Nancy McMahon topped the 3rd D Pole Bending on 43 points, followed by Laureen Naumu-Balocan (32 points) and Tierra Rapozo (27 points).
First-place winners were each presented trophy buckles. Second-place winners earned a headstall and third-place winners received an equine accessory bag and other items.
