Dominador Tolentino Sr.
Dominador Garcia Tolentino Sr. of Puhi died on Oct. 14, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 94. Born in the Philippines, he retired from McBryde Sugar Plantation.
He was preceded in death by his wife Cornelia Tolentino and daughter Joyce Tolentino.
He is survived by children Juliet (Simon) Rosa of Virginia, Mildred (Wendell) Polk of California, Evelyn (Kip) Baker of Colorado, Anita (Kelly) Reubens of Nevada, Susan Tolentino of Colorado, Demetrio Tolentino of O‘ahu, Anthony (Lealani) Tolentino of O‘ahu, Dominador Tolentino Jr. of Kaua‘i and Ofelia Tolentino of Kaua‘i; mother-in-law Cresencia Cabradilla of Kaua‘i; grandchildren Jerell, Zena, Joyce, Matteo, Dominick, Braden, Trevor and Qiana; numerous nieces and nephews in the Philippines.
Visitation from 8 to 9:45 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are being handled by Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
Anna Thiele
Anna Faye Thiele of Kailua died Oct. 6, 2009, in Kailua at age 80. Born on June 14, 1929, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her son Peter James; daughters Kathy Green, Heather Wood and Teanna Shanahan; step-sons Pat, John, Mark and Chris Thiele; brother Lindsay “Tony” Faye Jr.; sisters Mary Reinhardt and Linda Collins; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Service is at 11 a.m., on Friday, Oct. 23, at Waimea United Church of Christ on Kaua‘i. Reception to follow at Waimea Plantation Cottages.
Donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association Aloha Chapter or Bristol Hospice Hawai‘i.
Arrangements are being handled by Ultimate Cremation Services of Hawai‘i.
Isamu Higa
Isamu “Higgins” Higa of Kapa‘a died Oct. 4, 2009, at home at age 84. Born on Aug. 25, 1925, on Kaua‘i, he was a World War II veteran and retired from Hawai‘i Air National Guard.
He is survived by his son Kevin (Udom) Higa of New Mexico; daughter Sherlyn (Irwin) Haraguchi of Kilauea; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers Tetsuo and Yoshio of Kaua‘i and Hirose of California; sisters Akiko Ebisui of Honolulu, Sachiko Morimoto of California and Fumiko Chow of Kaua‘i; caregivers Michael Manguchei and Ford Sueoka; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation at 10 a.m., services at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at Kaua‘i Veterans Center in Lihu‘e.
Aloha attire is suggested and the family graciously declines flowers.
