LIHU‘E — St. Francis Home Care Services-Kaua‘i, which provides home health services to patients recovering from an injury or illness, has moved its office. An open house is being held this week for invited guests.
The new location is in Dynasty Court, 4473 Pahe‘e Street, Suite N in Lihu‘e. The phone number, 808-245-6430, remains the same.
The 1,273-square-foot office, larger than its previous location at 3224 Elua Street in Lihu‘e, will enable St. Francis to expand its services for the people of Kaua‘i, a news release says.
“This new location affords us the capability to grow our services on Kaua‘i,” says Sister Agnelle Ching, OSF, chief executive officer of St. Francis Healthcare System of Hawai‘i. “People are living longer in Hawai‘i, and by 2020, one in four residents will be 60 years and older. We recognize this growing need for services and want to be able to meet them.”
St. Francis Home Care Services-Kaua‘i has been providing skilled nursing and therapy services to patients in their homes since 1977. In November, the home health agency became the first on the island to offer telehealth services, an in-home monitoring system that prompts patients to check their vital signs such as weight, blood pressure, blood sugar level or pulse oximetry (oxygen in the blood) and also reminds patients to take their medications. The information is transmitted through a phone line to the home care office for nurses to review, thus allowing the home care team to be in daily contact with their patients rather than wait until the next scheduled visit.
“Telehealth monitoring has been working very well for our patients,” says Maile Ballesteros, R.N., of St. Francis Home Care Services-Kaua‘i.
Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
