LIHU‘E — The state Department of Transportation advises Kaua‘i motorists of 24-hour, seven-day-a-week closures for road resurfacing operations at Kapule Highway.
The closures began Wednesday, a state news release says.
Through Oct. 27, closures will be at the Halau Street and Vidinha Stadium Access Road intersections. All access to Halau Street and Vidinha Stadium Access Road from Kapule Highway will be closed. Motorists wishing to access the stadium area are advised to use Kaana Street or Rice Street (to Hoolako Street). Through traffic on Kapule Highway will be unaffected.
From Oct. 28 through Dec. 1, the closure will be at the Kaana Street intersection. All access to Kaana Street (west) from Kapule Highway will be closed. Motorists wishing to access Kaana Street are advised to take Hoolako Street west to Kaana Street. Through traffic on Kapule Highway will remain unaffected.
Motorists are also advised to use caution while driving through the work area and to allow for extra travel time. Roadwork is weather-permitting.
