Mime and motion artist Janet Carafa, brings the art of mime to Kaua‘i.
Carafa and Jackie Tice will be performing a theatrical journey of mime and music. Sometimes silly, sometimes deep, always touching the heart. The integration of original songs by Tice and vibrational tones combined with dynamic and emotive dance/mime create a multi-dimensional experience for the audience. Tickets are donation only. Requested, $5 to $15 at the door.
Carafa has studied and been directed by Marcel Marceau and is lead female company member at the American Mime Theatre, NY. On Kaua‘i, she is a Bikram yoga instructor at Bodhi Tree Yoga and Hanalei Yoga and this summer taught mime and physical expression to the Children’s Theater of Kaua‘i.
Workshops in Yoga of Mime are being offered in August and September at Bodhi Tree Yoga. Yoga of Mime includes: Emotion aerobics, moving to words, physics of body motion, symbolic motion, illusions in space and relating to others in silence. Hanalei Tunnel is an adventure from Wailua area through a mile-long tunnel to the upper reaches of Hanalei River. The trail is sometimes muddy, being close to Wai‘ale‘ale, but the experience is worth the slipping and sliding. Strenuous 6.5 miles round-trip. Call Neil Brosnahan, 346-8460. Sunday is a sunset to full moon walk starting in late afternoon from Donkey Beach to Fuji Beach enjoying the sunset and full moon rising over the ocean. Cars will be shuttled for an easy four- mile one-way walk. Call Judy Dalton, 246-9067.

Get ready for hot Latin music, dancing, moonlit garden tours, champagne, wine and gourmet pupu from Gaylord’s Restaurant, Kaua‘i Marriott Resort and Beach Club and Sheraton Kaua‘i Resort.
Guests will board a tram at the South Shore Visitors Center (across from Spouting Horn) and be transported into McBryde Garden with scenic stops along the way to the Orchard Field in McBryde Garden.
There will be performances and mini dance lessons by professional dance couples. George Garcia, founder of IslaTango in Honolulu, will be the featured performer. He has studied with several of the Tango world’s finest master teachers, being most influenced by the great Carlos Gavito of Forever Tango fame.
Guests can walk to Bamboo Bridge (decorated with lights). Near Bamboo Bridge guests will enjoy champagne and sparkling wine.
