LIHU‘E — David Michael McEntee faces up to 30 years in prison and fines of upwards of $35,000 when he is sentenced in October on marijuana and drug-paraphernalia charges.
Kaua‘i Police Department officers armed with a search warrant found over two pounds of marijuana in McEntee’s home in March of this year, as well as drug paraphernalia, according to Justin Kollar, deputy prosecuting attorney.
McEntee pleaded no contest Monday to the paraphernalia charge and second-degree promotion of marijuana, both felonies, and 5th Circuit Judge Randal Valenciano found him guilty of both crimes, scheduling sentencing for Oct. 15.
McEntee entered not-guilty pleas and requested a jury trial when he first appeared in Valenciano’s courtroom at the state courthouse in Lihu‘e in March of this year.
McEntee is represented by Marc Guyot, who recently joined the Office of the County Attorney after previously serving as a deputy county prosecutor.
