WAILUA — County officials are reminding golfers that the new golf fees for the Wailua Golf Course became effective July 1, a news release says.
The fee increase was approved last month by the County Council and Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. following discussions with community groups and a recommendation by the Cost Control Commission.
The new rates reflect an increase in the users’ portion for the cost of the golf course services, and a reduction in the amount of subsidy provided by the County, which is expected to be about $267,000 for fiscal year 2009-2010.
For Hawai‘i residents, Monday to Friday rates are $15 for adults, 18 and older, and $1 for junior golfers, anyone who has not yet graduated from high school.
For Kaua‘i seniors, ages 65 to 74, the Monday to Friday rate is $12, while Kaua‘i super seniors, ages 75 and older, pay just $9 for the same period.
Twilight, from 3 to 5 pm, Monday to Friday rates for Hawai‘i residents are $7.50 for adults and $1 for junior golfers.
The twilight Monday to Friday rate for Kaua‘i seniors and super seniors on is $6.
Weekend and holiday rates for Hawai‘i residents are $20 for adults and $1 for junior golfers.
For Kaua‘i seniors, the weekend and holiday rate is $15, while the cost for Kaua‘i super seniors for the same period is $13.
Twilight weekend rates for Hawai‘i residents are $10 for adults and $1 for junior golfers.
The Twilight weekend rate for Kaua‘i seniors and super seniors is $7.50.
Hawai‘i residents can also purchase monthly passes, $60 for adults and $9 for junior golfers.
The cost for Kaua‘i seniors monthly passes is $40, while monthly passes for Kaua‘i super seniors is $26.
For non-residents, the Monday to Friday rate is $60, twilight Monday to Friday rate, $30, weekend and holiday rate, $70, and twilight weekend rate, $35.
Non-residents also have the option of purchasing a playcard that entitles them to five-18 hole rounds on weekdays.
Other fees that have gone up at the Wailua Golf Course include: a small bucket of balls, $2 and a large bucket of bucket of balls, $4.
