NAWILIWILI — Reggie McCabe did what she had to do to keep the Gee’s Angels just a step ahead of Waimea in the first of three Kaua‘i Youth Basketball Association Under 14 games, Friday at Kaua‘i High School.
The go-to guard finished with eight points in the Angels’ 22-19 edge over Waimea. In a balanced attack, Joy Claypoole and Uinise Paua each contributed four points while Raquelle Matayoshi anchored a solid defensive showing that limited Waimea to just three scorers.
Bristy-Ann Agu led the Waimea effort with a game-high 11 points, sharing the low post go-to effort with Paige Connelly who added seven points. Caitlyn Owen finished with a digit.
Mahea Hanie-Grace sparked the second game of the night by leading the Kamikamze to a 38-27 edge over Kaulupono. The shooting guard finished with a game-high 13 points.
Kaulupono got seven points from its feisty guard Cheyanne Duarte.
Hanakila tall post Cy Whitlock ended with a game-high 13 points to lead Hanakila to a 47-25 win over the G-Unit A in the only boys game of the night. Whitlock got help from Morgan Childs who finished with 10 points.
Wheeler Batol paced the G-Unit A with 11 points.
Three Under 14 games are scheduled for Monday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Kaulupono opens the night against the Gee’s Angels at 6 p.m. followed by the Kalepa Hillsiders going up against the G-Unit A starting at 7 p.m. The finale is a girls game featuring Waimea and the Lihu‘e Kamikaze.
