Who would think a trip to visit Chef Chai Chawarasee at the Westin Princeville would yield so much?
Chef Kahau Manzo said Sunday was the first opening of the brunch at the Westin Princeville; Tahiti Nui was closed so it was on to Big Save in Hanalei where Karlos De Treaux was putting on the finishing touches for a promotion for the American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life” which will enjoy its first-ever Hanalei event on June 27.
Karlos’ wife Kathy (where was breakfast from?) is a survivor and if you get a Hanalei Pizza T-shirt from now through the 27th, you get a slice of gourmet pizza and all the money goes to the relay.
Across the street, hats off to Mark Goodman (the berry was ono!) of Pinky’s Creamery on winning his third straight 8-mile walk last weekend at the Hanalei Canoe Club fundraiser.
But there’s more than ice cream at Pinky’s (did The Home Depot have a sale on pink paint?) … check out the Jelly Bellys, the hats, funky sunshades, and if you’re in at the right time, Lucy Arnez on wide-screen.
Unfortunately, the snails (Mark is going to check them out) were sold out so that means there’s another trip coming up.
