KALAHEO — Matthew Cummings and Cameron Simao led Team Central to a 45-34 win over the G Unit A in the first of two Boys Under 14 games, Saturday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Cummings finished with 18 points followed by Simao adding 13 points and numerous rebounds for Team Central.
Wheeler Batol topped the G-Unit A scoring on a 16-point note followed by Tyler Fernandez adding 14 points as the blueshirts split their series, the G-Unit B taking a 41-39 edge over the Kalepa Hillsiders in the second BU14 match hosted by the Kaua‘i Youth Basketball Association.
Mikal Moranz and Donovan Harrison fueled the G-Unit B victory on 12- and 10-point performances, respectively.
Trey Aguano and Kerwin Morino each netted 11 points to lead the Kalepa yellowshirts’ effort.
“I played good on defense, but was crummy on offensive,” said Waimea guard Cheyanne Duarte following their 39-34 loss in overtime to the Gee’s Angels.
Jessie Aki netted a game-high 17 points to lead the Gee’s Angels followed by Reggie McCabe bulling for 10 points in the first of two Girls Under 17 matches played at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Searra Kaohi and Bristy-Ann Agu topped the Waimea effort with eight and seven points, respectively.
Mahea Hanie-Grace scored a dozen point to lead the Kapa‘a Titaz to its 32-28 edge over Kaulupono in the final GU17 match.
Aiko Grande and Sanoe Kaohelaulii topped the Kaulupono effort with nine and eight points, respectively.
Games continue tonight at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center starting at 6 p.m.
