Emily Miller’s watercolor, ‘4:35,’ was one of eight Kaua‘i submissions accepted to the Hawai‘i 2009 exhibit at Honolulu Academy of Arts last month. Each of the artist’s will be honored in the lifestyle section in the coming weeks. This is the largest and longest running all-media juried exhibition in the state. Miller is intrigued by the beauty in later stages of life like aging, rusting, drying out or even rotting, the splendor of which she said is often overlooked. The Hawai‘i 2009 exhibit is in the gallery through August 16.
