NAWILIWILI — Police arrested a 31-year-old Waimea woman Thursday morning for an assault earlier this month outside of a Nawiliwili bar, according to a press release.
Star Aguiar was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault for her role in a May 16 physical altercation with a visitor and his wife outside Nawiliwili Tavern.
Another female visitor who was with the couple on May 16 was assaulted by a different person in the same general area shortly after the first incident occurred.
Police are continuing their investigation of the incidents, the release said.
The May 16 attacks are the latest in a recent string of assaults outside bars or restaurants.
According to reports, a woman and her brother were jumped by a group of men after leaving Tradewinds in Kapa‘a on April 10.
A week or so later, a Hanalei man was jumped after leaving Tahiti Nui, also by a group of men. He was reportedly left badly beaten in town.
On April 25, police responded to Restaurant Kintaro in Kapa‘a after a woman — allegedly in a wedding dress — was assaulted by a man outside.
Kaua‘i Police Department officials earlier this month said investigations into the complaints were ongoing.
