LIHU‘E — A free informational seminar on temporary restraining orders and injunctions against harassment will be held at the Kaua‘i Judiciary Complex on May 1 from 10-11 a.m. in the multi-purpose room at 3970 Ka‘ana Street in Lihu‘e, according to a press release.
Judges Calvin Murashige and Trudy Senda will inform attendees about Family Court and District Court temporary restraining orders. Requests for a TRO against a family member or someone who is or was an intimate partner are handled by the Family Court. The District Court handles TROs against persons who are not related to or are not dating.
On Kaua‘i, 236 protective orders were filed in Family Court and 305 protective orders were filed in the District Court during fiscal year 2007-08, the release said.
The presentation commemorates Law Day, which is celebrated nationwide each year on or around May 1. Law Day is an opportunity to promote greater respect for the law and the courts.
