KAPA‘A — Edward Punua scored a goal with 15 seconds remaining to lead the Squirt Devils to a 7-6 win over the Green Machine, Sunday in a make-up game of the Kaua‘i Inline Hockey Association.
All of the games played this past weekend were makeup games, marking the season’s end, at Kapa‘a New Park.
Punua finished by scoring five goals for the Devils, with Luke Boyd finishing with a goal and an assist. Joshua Lakatos iced the win, and Ikaika Wojanski finished with an assist of Lakatos’ score.
Victor Sanchez finished with a hat trick to lead the Green Machine, followed by Derek Soong adding a goal and an assist. Kalena Harder and Brody Soong each scored goals, with Shannon Sitzler adding a pair of assists.
Tomas Sanchez, Green Machine goalie, had 31 saves Friday, and 18 saves Sunday, while Iki Punua, guest goalie for the Devils, finished with nine saves.
In the Friday-night match, both Squirt teams battled to a 6-6 tie despite the Devils coming from a 3-1 halftime deficit to score five second-half goals.
Punua again scored the lead goal for the Devils, finishing with two goals, the final one coming at the 40-second mark. An Eoklu Cabreira goal with 31 seconds remaining resulted in the stalemate, that goal being his second of the match.
Chanel Tremblay took the lead for the Green Machine with a pair of goals. Sanchez added a goal and an assist, and Brody Soong and John-Mark Alomp also had a goal each for the Green Machine.
In the Bantam division, Team Todd took a double loss, first 4-2 to the Devils on Friday, and succumbing 12-6 to Da Eh Team, Sunday.
Kala Yee paced Team Todd Sunday with a hat trick, followed by Jacob Lewis finishing with a pair of goals and an assist. Ben Steuri added a goal and an assist in the effort over Da Eh Team.
Marissa Aceret paced Da Eh Team with four goals, followed by Matthius Davis ending with a hat trick and two assists. Trevor McCracken ended with a hat trick and four assists, and Christian Perdue rounded out the win with a pair of goals.
Da Eh Team goalie, Daniel Alonzo, finished with 32 saves.
Stephanie Steuri, the Team Todd goalkeeper, made 38 saves against Da Eh Team and 46 saves against the Devils, Friday night.
In that matchup, Yee was held to one goal, along with Noah Leggett, whose goal came on an assist from Stephanie Steuri.
Cydney Sitzler paced the Devils with two goals, followed by Edward Punua getting a goal and an assist. Austin Taylor finished with a goal, and Marcus Punua added an assist.
Iki Punua, the Devils’ goalie, finished with 32 saves.
Bryan Bodine, finishing with two goals Friday, was the difference for Midget A with a goal at the 3:35 mark for the 4-3 win over Midget B in the Midget division. On Sunday, Bodine finished with a goal and two assists in the Midget A’s 7-3 showing over Midget B.
Tyson Wakayama and Brian McCracken sparked Midget A Sunday with a pair of goals each, with Mike Goodnight adding a goal and two assists. Mark Wojcinski, getting one goal and an assist, Friday, finished with a goal Sunday. Eddie Kane had a goal, and Brandon Muraoka finished with an assist for Midget A, Friday.
Trevor McCracken, Justin Fujikawa and Ikaika Fuerte each scored single goals for Midget B Friday. Keala Davis picked up the lead for Midget B, Sunday, with two goals, and Trevor McCracken added a goal. Ikaika Fuerte added an assist.
Greg Balmores, the Midget B goalkeeper, finished with 27 saves Sunday, and 26 saves Friday.
Jaime Pablo, the Midget A goalkeeper, finished with 48 saves Friday and 26 saves Sunday.
