PO‘IPU — Chef Martina Hilldorfer, one of the culinary arts instructors at the Kaua‘i Community College, was proud to present the three second-year culinary arts students at the meeting of the Rotary Club of Po‘ipu Beach, Wednesday.
Pamela Ganotisi, Kristen Yanagawa and Henson Razos have been working hard through the different culinary arts programs and will be graduating later this Spring, Hilldorfer said.
But their work is not over as they are still preparing for the KCC Gala coming up April 17.
The three culinary arts students are the latest recipients of scholarships from the Rotary Club of Po‘ipu, who hosted Hilldorfer and the students to breakfast at the Po‘ipu Broiler, Wednesday.
Roberta Charles, the Rotary Club of Po‘ipu Beach noted that the club is also in the midst of helping Koloa School with a fundraiser with Rotarian Michael Curtis acting as a liason with the school.
Charles said the Rotary Club of Po‘ipu Beach is planning a movie-in-the park event where Koloa School will be the beneficiary of the event’s food booth.
That event is scheduled for May 15 and Charles said the club is partnering with the County of Kaua‘i and the Kukui‘ula Development Co.
Additionally, Clayworks and Makai Properties have recently pledged their support for the event.
Thomas Gross of the Rotary Club of Po‘ipu Beach also introduced several Maui students who are enjoying the island for Spring Break and will be enjoying the hospitality of Jim Miranda at the CJM Country Stables following the Wednesday meeting.
Hilldorfer said the KCC Gala is already half-sold and people interested in attending the event that will feature guest chefs Alan Wong and D.K. Kodama along with a guest somalier need to get tickets early as previous Gala events have enjoyed sold-out status.
People interested in getting tickets can call Clarice Kali at 245-8238.
