Verde restaurant in the Kapa‘a Shopping Center celebrated its one-year anniversary on Thursday. Free short rib nachos were offered as a “mahalo” for a great year.

Verde’s was recently voted as Best New Discovery in this year’s Taste of Hawai‘i.
The Office of Hawaiian Affairs awards $49,904 grant
The Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce has been awarded a grant of $49,904 from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs to develop a Hawaiian Economic Development Entity Asset Map for each island and for the state.
As part of the project, meetings will be held with HEDE’s on O‘ahu, Hawai‘i island, Maui, Moloka‘i, Lana‘i and Kaua‘i to gather data for the map or matrix. The data will then be used to create and publish asset maps or matrixes for each island. A comprehensive statewide map will also be developed which will include all of the island data.
The project was initiated by NHCC to address a need for reliable quantitative and qualitative data on Hawaiian-focused organizations and entities involved with economic development within the Hawaiian community on each island.
As a result of this project, a Hawaiian Economic Development Council will be created. The council and HEDE’s will work together to establish a consortium that will become the economic nucleus for the future Hawaiian Nation.
NHCC is partnering with the Pacific American Foundation on this project.
