Hawai‘i’s water safety officers are featured in a new video clip aired on Explore.
The rich history of lifeguarding, tracing back to the legendary Duke Kahanamoku and Eddie Aikau is part of the clip in this tribute to Hawai‘i’s ‘guardians of the sea,’ states a release from Global Surf News.
The team then jumps to modern-day Pipeline where highly skilled watermen protect surfers from the ocean’s powerful swells.
The ‘Guardians of the Sea’ film, a winner at the Maui Film Festival, joins other clips of Hawai‘i and its culture, including one about AccessSurf, an organization dedicated to giving everyone the chance to experience the magnificence of the ocean.
Explore is a new concept that combines philantropy, travel and learning. Charles Annenberg Weingarten with support from the Annenberg Foundation is the head of the Explore team that embarks on fact-finding missions, scouring the world for those in need and with a story to tell.
Results of the team are collected on explore.org for a multimedia library of documentary films, photographs and key insights from the nonprofit leaders who are dedicating their lives to helping humanity.
