KAPA‘A — Joshua Lakotas had a hat trick Friday and netted a goal Sunday to lead the Devils to a split weekend at the Kapa‘a rink.
Lakotas’ hat trick led the Devils to a 4-2 edge over the Green Machine before dropping its Sunday match 6-3 in the Squirt division of the Kaua‘i Inline Hockey Association.
Luke Boyd got an assist from Skyler Wilson to round out Friday night’s win.
Shannon Sitzler got an assist from Derek Soong and Victor Sanchez netted the Green Machine effort.
Shannon finished Sunday with two goals, getting an assist from Kainalu Gandia on one goal. Gandia added two goals to the Green Machine win along with Chanel Tremblay and Soong adding a goal each.
Thor Haugland led the Devils’ Sunday effort with two goals, getting an assist from Isaac Lakatos on one goal. Lakatos netted the other goal.
Team Todd swept its weekend series in the Bantam division, taking a 10-5 win over the Devils Friday before outscoring Da Eh Team 6-5 in the second half en route to an 8-7 edge.
Ben Steuri led the Friday night Team Todd victory with a hat trick and an assist. Kala Yee, Nick Leggett and Jacob Lewis each added a pair of goals; Lewis also getting an assist on one of Yee’s goals. Cascade Mayer added a goal and Noah Leggett finished with an assist in that win.
Kawai Peahu had a hat trick and Cydney Sitzler finished with two goals for the Devils who also got an assist from Iki Punua.
Devils’ goalkeeper Luke Boyd finished with 15 saves on 25 shots while Stephanie Steuri, goalkeeping for Team Todd, was 34 saves on 39 shots.
On Sunday, Steuri finished with 28 saves on 35 shots while Grant Basquez, tending for Da Eh Team, was 36 saves on 44 shots.
Da Eh Team played catchup through most of the match, Matthias Davis tying the score 2-2 at the half with a goal with eight seconds remaining. With just 18 ticks remaining in the contest, Trevor McCracken netted a goal that brought Da Eh Team’s effort just a goal short.
McCracken finished the game with five goals, Davis getting two scores in the effort. Eli Leech-Kritchman and Davis each had a save in the outing.
Ben Steuri, Jacob Lewis and Noah Leggett paced Team Todd with two goals apiece, Leggett adding two assists and Ben getting one assist in the win. Cascade Mayor finished with three assists and a goal, Zack Lewis had a goal and Sierra Mayer also chalked up an assist.
The Midget “A” came up with two comeback wins after outscoring Midget “B” in Friday’s and Sunday’s matches.
Pete Brooks had a goal and two assists to lead the Midget “A,” Sunday, Brandon Muraoka added a goal and an assist. Brian McCracken and Todd Mayer each added a goal, Todd also marking an assist. Mika Givens and Eddie Kane finished with an assist apiece.
Zachary Rodriguez and Mike Goodnight each finished with a goal and an assist to put Midget “B” up 2-1 at the half. Trevor McCracken added a second-half goal and a net by Cydney Sitzler with 22 seconds remaining came up short. Trevor and Tyson Wakayama each marked assists.
Jaime Pablo, tending for Midget “B,” was 33 saves on 38 shots, Sunday. Friday night’s efforts were tended to by Greg Balmores who finished with 27 saves on 36 shots.
Keala Davis led the Midget “B” scoring, Friday with a hat trick and an assist. Trevor McCracken, Justin Fujikawa and Kirsten McCracken each added a goal. Ikaika Fuerte finished with two assists.
Stephanie Steuri, goalkeeping for Midget “A,” finished Sunday’s outing with 23 saves on 27 shots. She also finished with 27 saves on 34 shots during the Friday night win.
Kane paced the “A” win Friday night with a hat trick and an assist. Pete Brooks added two goals, Mika Givens netted a score and four assists, Mike Goodnight added a goal and an assist and a goal from Brian McCracken rounded out the win.
Hockey games continue Friday and Sunday at the Kapa‘a rink and the public is invited to view the competition at no charge.
