LIHU‘E — Renewing your motor vehicle registration just got easier. The county is now offering an online motor vehicle registration renewal service at www.kauai.gov/mvr, a county news release states.
The system is maintained on secure servers and uses the latest encryption technology to ensure privacy, security and data integrity.
“We are pleased to launch another online service that’s designed to help make county government more accessible to the general public and is part of our overall plan to improve efficiency,” Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. said in the release.
Citizens can access the online system by providing the last four digits of their Vehicle Identification Number and their license plate number. The user-friendly interface guides the user through the entire payment process.
The fee may be paid with a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover) or electronic check.
Upon confirmation of payment, a receipt will be e-mailed and may be printed for record-keeping.
The new registration certificate and emblem will be mailed to the customer via the U.S. Postal Service.
The motor vehicle registration renewal is the most recent addition to the county’s online services.
The county was the first in the state to offer real property tax payments over the Internet, and has since added sewer payments, as well as the ability to view building permit status online.
