Jason Sunada and his Kaua‘i Community College culinary arts students were busy this weekend coming off their opening bake sale and then helping prepare lunches at the Hawai‘i Hotel & Lodging Association golf tournament Sunday.
Jason had help from Billy Gibson and Chef Martina Hilldorfer, and Billy said Chef Mark Oyama would’ve made it except they had his yakudoshi the night before and it was a “heavy” affair.
Hats off to Jolene Ogle, Sandi Kato-Klutke (she knew the BL cap in the golf shoes belonged to Dickie Chang), Ray Blouin, and all those committee people for pulling off the event in tight times.
Mayor Bernard Carvalho came back from the presidential inauguration and hit the ground running, taking in the KIF girls basketball game Saturday night and then taking time to chat with the family support groups and the Kaua‘i Veterans Council Honor Guard during Sunday’s funds distribution for Operation Military Appreciation. Kudos to Tony Ricci for doing a great job with that fun event, and Bobby Ayonon was sharing some thoughts about Saturday’s great KIF girls soccer game.
Ikaika Fuerte was playing in the KIF boys game, and still made it for the opening of the inline hockey season Sunday. Mahalo to Penni Taketa for getting the scores out so fast.
