WAILUA — The body of a 49-year-old Kapa‘a man was found Sunday night in the valley behind a Lihau Street home in Wailua Homesteads, according to a county release. No foul play is suspected.
Firefighters and police officers had responded to an 11:04 p.m. call about Melvin Kneip, a yardman employed at a Wailua residence who had not returned home from work Sunday.
Firefighters searched the Wailua property and followed the path taken by a riding lawn mower.
The path led them down a steep cliff and into the valley. The body of the missing man was found about 150 feet below the property.
Police are conducting an investigation of the incident, which they believe was an accident, according to the statement.
