Kaua‘i Medical Clinic is proud to announce that Press Ganey Associates Inc. has named it a 2008 Compass Award Winner, a news release states.
Press Ganey currently partners with more than 7,000 health care facilities — including more than 40 percent of U.S. hospitals — to measure and improve the quality of their care and their bottom line.
The company’s databases are the largest in the industry, and allow facilities nationwide to benchmark their results against peer organizations. The Compass Award recognizes facilities that show the most improvement over two years in overall patient/resident/employee satisfaction. The Press Ganey Compass Award is a coveted symbol of achievement in the health care satisfaction industry that is bestowed annually, and Kaua‘i Medical Clinic is just one of 34 facilities to receive this honor.
“We are proud partners of Kaua‘i Medical Clinic. Their dedication to continuous improvement serves as a model for all,” Dr. Melvin F. Hall, president and chief executive officer of Press Ganey, said.
“As an organization that in 2007 started focusing more on the critical importance of physician engagement and leadership in improving the patients’ experience at our main clinic and satellite offices, it is gratifying to see that our efforts have resulted in these types of Press Ganey scores,” said Lynne Joseph, chief operating officer of Kaua‘i Medical Clinic.
“We owe much of our improved physician engagement to the standards adopted by the physicians’ executive committee and, in particular, Dr. Geri Young, chief medical officer. She is a staunch supporter of service excellence,” she said. “She leads by example by personally calling patients to hear their concerns and apologize if they were not satisfied with their care. Dr. Young encourages other physicians to do the same. Our staff also deserves recognition for the important role they play in each patient’s visit. We are honored to receive this award, recognizing that it is a celebration of our early steps in a continuous process for ongoing improvement.”
