The following individuals recently launched a business, were appointed to a leadership position or honored for their work in the business community:
Wendell Bandmann, Ray Oritz and Eric Rita
Three park rangers recently joined the Department of Parks and Recreation and were welcomed by Mayor Bernard Carvalho, Jr. and others in the department, from left in photo – Department of Parks & Recreation Deputy Director Kylan Dela Cruz, John Martin, parks permit and security coordinator, Ray Ortiz, Mayor Carvalho, Department of Parks & Recreation Director Lenny Rapozo, Eric Rita and Wendell Bandmann.
Wendell Bandmann, Ray Oritz and Eric Rita were brought on board earlier this month to assist the parks department with oversight of the county park system including Ke Ala Hele Makalae, the multi-use coastal path.
Among the duties and responsibilities of the county park rangers are: check camping permits, check pavilion, ball field and neighborhood center usage, check inflatable usage, monitor the multi-use path, monitor night usage of facilities, assist the Kaua‘i Police Department.

Marty Rice
Marty Rice has been named Poipu Bay Golf Course’s Employee of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of 2008.
Rice has worked at Poipu Bay since 1994 and currently holds the position of Starter/Marshal. He was nominated for the award by his supervisor, Chad Dusenberry. “Marty is very good at briefing new players about the course,” says Dusenberry, “and giving them tips to save a few shots off their round.”
Poipu Bay’s quarterly employee awards are based on nominations made by department supervisors, commending employees in the areas of attendance, conscientiousness, attitude, efficiency, innovation, guest service and aloha spirit.
