HONOLULU — The University of Hawai‘i men’s basketball team finished its Rainbow Classic in fifth place. Now it’s the women’s turn to host its own classic, which includes the Waves of Pepperdine and the Buffaloes of Colorado.
The Rainbow Classic starts today when Hawai‘i faces Pepperdine at 3 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.
The three-team classic continues tomorrow when Pepperdine and Colorado face each other at 3 p.m. The classic ends Sunday 4 when Hawai‘i faces Colorado at 5 p.m.
The Rainbow Wahine enter the week with a 3-8 record after splitting a two-game series with Washington State before the holiday break.
Pepperdine comes to the classic with a 6-6 record, while Colorado is 5-4.
Hawai‘i will have both of its games televised this week on KFVE (K-5, The Home Team), with Jim Leahy and Lori Santi calling the action.
The Rainbow Wahine open against Pepperdine and lead the all-time series 6-3, with the last meeting coming in 2000. Against Colorado, Hawai‘i is 0-1 all-time with the only meeting coming in 1988 on the island.
