Kara-lei Cummings was named to the CCCAA Women’s Volleyball All-Tournament team following El Camino Junior College’s conference championships, held over the weekend, in Pasadena, Calif.
The 2008 Kaua‘i High School graduate and current El Camino freshman, finished the tournament with 81 kills, 11 blocks, lifting her team to sweeping victories over Fresno City and Santa Rosa on the final day of competition.
Playing in the California Community College Athletic Association championship tournament, El Camino beat Fresno City 25-15, 25-12 and 25-17, then went on to beat Santa Rosa, also in three games, 25-15, 25-21 and 25-15.
El Camino played Santa Rosa again in the final, winning 30-17.
Cummings was one of four players from El Camino to make the tournament team. She was joined by second-time all-tournament pick libero Karina Woehrstein, second-time pick setter Sam Taylor and first-timer Amrita Tuladhar who plays outside hitter.
El Camino finished the season undefeated in Southern California Conferences South Coast play (14-0) and 32-2 overall.
Cummings is the daughter of Tracy Cummings and Lisa Jones. She has two other sisters who played volleyball for Kaua‘i: Kandice and Kristen.
