Happy Camper for Saturday, November 29, 2008

Congratulations to Damien Girard, a defensive lineman from Menlo College, who was named Honorable Mention to the Northwest Conference All-NWC team. Girard is a Kaua‘i High School graduate who is now a sophomore at Menlo College and the honor was his first since high school.

Hats off to Capt.  Mitham Clement and the Salvation Army board for hosting a great community luncheon. Mark Oyama said they’ve actually been busy working Thanksgiving as well. He was the hero along with Executive Chef Kevin Nakata for the Kapa‘a Interfaith Association community lunch. Mary Margaret Smith, co-chair with Diane Sato, said there were a lot of heroes like JD’s Painting who came and painted the All Saints Gym before the event.

Actually Mark was busy with Dennis Chun and Brian Yamamoto at the KCC Hawaiian Studies imu service Wednesday, and is getting ready for his culinary arts students to do an imu next Tuesday (kalua pork for fine dining, Wednesday).

John Constantino was helping at the Kapa‘a luncheon and now has to get ready for the Kaua‘i Museum Christmas Craft Fair, Friday.

OK, time to go check out the Big Island Pop Warner teams and don’t forget the Kaua‘i Christmas Parade at Kukui Grove Shopping Center. Capt. Clement said it’s going to snow!
