Ron Wiley, the KQNG Radio on-air personality, and Marin Johnson, Miss Garden Isle 2008, were not alone as they greeted drivers using the drive through feature at the Lihu‘e McDonald’s, Thursday.
The celebrity couple were soliciting funds on behalf of the World Children’s Day at McDonald’s event which was being celebrated at McDonald’s restaurants across the state and the rest of the nation.
Funds raised benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities and is the company’s largest annual fundraiser for children and families in need in local communities across the nation and around the world.
“We raised $50,000 last year and our goal is to surpass that,” said Danny Abreu, McDonald’s area supervisor. “We have promotional packaging at all of the McDonald’s restaurants, but the celebrities are only at the Lihu‘e McDonald’s.
Across the state other celebrities joining Wiley and Johnson included people like Jasmine Trias, Jordan Segundo, Sam Choy, Augie T., and other personalities from radio and television, states a press release from McDonald’s.
During the World Children’s Day, a dollar from each purchase of any Extra Value Meal will be earmarked by McDonald’s for the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Additionally, Wiley and Johnson were soliciting for the “Give a Hand” program where a dollar would get the contributor a paper hand which bore the donor’s name and posted in and around the restaurant. The dollar goes straight to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
